Director, Nutrition (Advocacy)

by Unknown  |  at  3:25 PM

The Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) is an independent philanthropic organisation, headquartered in London with offices in Nairobi and New Delhi.  We work with a wide range of partners seeking to transform the lives of poor and vulnerable children in developing countries.
We aim to play a catalytic role as a funder and influencer to deliver urgent and lasting change at scale. Our ambitious strategy for our children and mothers’ health and nutrition programme focuses on reducing stunting and wasting in five priority geographies in Africa and South Asia and increasing funding and political will for nutrition globally. Although nutrition has gained more prominence in recent years, it still remains a marginal issue in development.
In 2013, CIFF made an ambitious pledge to commit $700m to nutrition by 2020 under the Nutrition for Growth (N4G) compact.

Competitive
Advocacy is a key part of realising our ambitions. Reporting to the Executive Director, Nutrition and part of the Nutrition senior management team, this is a pivotal role working closely with colleagues across CIFF and at Board level.  You will contribute to the development of cutting edge and evidence based advocacy strategies, ensuring our work in nutrition achieves transformational change.
Acting as a champion for nutrition in external events and networks, you will also lead the Nutrition Advocacy team in strategically overseeing a $20m portfolio and pipeline of investments at global and country levels.
You are an exceptional and senior level advocate, experienced at building and leading coalitions of diverse partners to drive sector level change. Strategic and influential in approach, you will be a critical thought leader in taking our agenda forward and play a lead role in actively shaping this space.
With outstanding communication and relationship building abilities, you have a detailed understanding of the international development sector and how to politically manoeuvre in different contexts, including with national governments.  Well networked, you will ideally bring experience of campaigning or driving policy change at high level in the global south.  A broad understanding of the nutrition space, including food security, agriculture or maternal and child health is desirable, as is experience of advocacy and influence in Ethiopia, Tanzania, Bangladesh or Rajasthan.
